Cool Baby Shower Themes
How to Create a
Cool Baby Shower Theme
Baby ABC’s
Decorate the party
room with the alphabet. This can be done easily through purchasing
streamers and writing the alphabet on them, or purchasing alphabet
themed streamers. You can add a little creativity through hanging baby
bibs from the ceiling with individual letters and phrases painted on
them, such as “B is for Baby” and “P is for Poopy Diapers.”
Nursery Rhyme Theme
Choose a few of mom’s favourite nursery rhymes, or classic nursery
rhymes, such as Humpty Dumpty and decorate the room accordingly. You
can create your own
baby shower
games or choose games that can be changed to follow the theme. For
example you can play “Jack Be Nimble, Jack Be Quick”, and have your
guests race to complete a Nursery Rhyme cross word.
Baby Toys
A
baby toy theme is one of the easiest themes to follow! Choose a few
typical
baby toys, such as rattles, building blocks or mobiles and make
cut-outs to hang from string throughout the room. You can find tones of
clip art on the Internet if you are not equipped with an artistic hand.
Your can bake a rattle shaped cake, or cupcakes with little toy shaped
candies sprinkled on the icing.
Baby Necessity Theme
Send out invitations rolled up inside baby bottles, or paint the
invitation on a bib or a diaper. Decorate the party room with diaper,
bottle, bib, and pacifier decorations. Decorate your table with real
bottles and pacifiers that mom can take home after the party. If you
are unsure about what a
baby’s necessities are I have compiled a list of items that all
baby’s need.
Baby’s Nursery Colors
Find out which colors mom is planning to use, or has used to decorate
the nursery. This gives you a lot of lee way in the types of
decorations that you choose; you do not have to by the themed or
patterned decorations. Using the nursery color scheme is nice when
there are
unique decorations that you want to incorporate.
Follow Baby’s Nursery Theme
Find out how mom has decorated the nursery and follow this theme. For
example, if the mom has chosen, or is planning to decorate the baby’s
room in a Winnie the Pooh or Mickey Mouse theme you may want to buy
decorations that follow suit. If mom is planning to decorate the
nursery in a certain theme it is also a good idea for you to tell your
guests this. Guests could purchase
shower gifts
that will help mom in the decorating process.
Stork Theme
Throughout history people have used the stork as a symbol of baby’s
arrival. The stork theme is a classic. You can create your
invitations in the shape of a stork, and buy decorations that follow
suit. You can bake a stork cake and decorate your table with nests and
eggs.

Animal Theme
This one is fun, and
super easy. You can either choose one animal, such as mom’s favourite
animal, or you can choose to go with the baby animal’s theme. Both are
cute and fun. You can cut out invitations in the shape of an animal or
baby animal’s, or you can decorate your invitations and envelopes with
animal stickers. There are tones of animal decorations that will help
bring your theme together.
Noah's
Ark
This is a classic.
Decorate with animal cut outs hung from the sealing. Make an ark to
hold the gifts in, and ask your guests to dress for the rain. Ask
guests to come dressed in raincoats and bring umbrellas. You can choose
to play games that incorporate your theme such as animal word searches.
You can cut out your invitations in the shape of Noah’s Ark and decorate
them with animal stickers. If you are baking a cake, you can bake it in
the shape of an ark and decorate it with animals and balloons.
Teddy Bears’ Picnic
Hand out teddy bear
shaped invitations and decorate the party room with stuffed teddy bears
dressed in diapers and baby clothes. Your table can be covered in a
traditional chequered table cloth, and your menu items can include berry
dishes and berry deserts, and you can bake a cake shaped like a teddy
bear. You can clear the room of furniture and lay blankets on the floor
for your guests to sit in and fill picnic baskets with game supplies and
snacks.
Shower for Mom
If you
are hosting a baby shower for a mother of one, two, or three already why
not host the party to shower her with gifts and pampering. This theme
will be more mature and modern, similar to that of a wedding shower. I
suggest you choose a color, such as her favourite color and create a
menu reflective of all of her favourite foods and pregnancy cravings.
Let her know that the party is in celebration of her patience, kindness
and lovingness toward her children.
Play games
that stimulate discussion about mom, and complement her beauty.
