Co-ed Baby Showers
Co-ed Baby
Shower Planning 101: How to Make Sure the Men Have a Great Time!
Customarily baby showers have been parties attended by women only.
However, just as technology has evolved, so have these traditions.
Today, baby showers are attended by proud fathers, or fathers-to-be as
well as their female counterparts. Therefore, it is important for you
to consider whether or not you will invite male guests, husbands and
boyfriends.
Unless you are planning a surprise baby
shower it is a good idea to check with the mother or
mother-to-be to determine her preference as to whether or not her
husband, boyfriend, or partner should attend along with other male
guests. If you are planning a surprise baby shower for the mother you
can always check with her husband to see what his thoughts are regarding
the co-ed baby shower.
Co-ed baby showers can be just as fun as ladies-only baby showers,
especially if you plan to play co-ed shower
games that the men will enjoy as well. I have found that
co-ed baby showers are livelier, as the men laugh and joke amongst
themselves, and that the games are much more competitive in nature, as
men have a hard time letting women win.
I
have also found that the
gift
opening can be boring for the men, so it is a good idea to try and keep
them entertained during this time. I suggest playing a
game that continues throughout
the gift opening, nothing that takes too much attention away from the
expectant or new parents.

When choosing the date and time for a co-ed baby celebration it is a
good idea to consider the average working day to be out of the
question. Co-ed baby showers are normally held on the weekend or later
in the evening. Co-ed showers usually consist of a more modern
theme, and
menu items generally consist of a
variety of appetizers and hors d’orves.
